Would you join with the Operation Rebound team providing a week of your professional skills and experience to help us install the HVAC ( Air conditioning system and Heat Pump) Electrical Service and inside rough as well as Plumbing for two single story double bath homes??

Where: Gulfport, Mississippi

Who are we you ask?
Operation Rebound is a faith based effort begun by South Shore Baptist Church
of Hingham and quickly joined by other local churches (4), businesses and neighbors as our joint response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina. You may have read articles about Operation Rebound; last February volunteers of Operation Rebound got together at the former Naval Base in South Weymouth to prefab the wall frames to 5 single story homes. When finished those walls were then transported down to the Gulf Coast by truck.

A few weeks later in March two homes were constructed by 45 Operation Rebound volunteers and in April another home by 30 volunteers. Each of us saw first hand some of the devastation the hurricane has wrecked on Louisiana and Mississippi. We saw what the locals in the area are describing as Mississippi’s “Ground Zero.” We saw the effects of a 30 foot wall of water traveling inland at high speed. It has left as an aftermath that will take years to rebuild.

The goal of rebuilding Katrina’s Ground Zero South is a monumental task that no government can possible achieve alone. Nor can the people from the region, who have lost everything and have for the past 10 months been living in trailer parks, stadiums, F.E.M.A. trailers and in temporary subsidized housing. These folks can’t wait for the government or the insurance industry to rebuild for them. The job then falls to their fellow countrymen who see that their need is so great and response thus far, too slow.
Acting right now is the only proper response.
